You should not expect “ice stones” to outperform the sheer chilling capacity of ice, as the respective methods of heat transfer are comparatively different. The drawback of using ice lies in dilution, with a recent study indicating that a water-to-whiskey ratio exceeding 1 to 4 will compromise the distinctive characteristics of whiskies.

If you prefer ice in your drink, you may experience slower melting of ice in the glass when combined with our product.

The most common material for whiskey stones is soapstone. Serpentine rock can easily be mistaken for soapstone, therefore caution should be exercised when using generic soapstone whiskey stones, as chrysotile asbestos is found in some forms of serpentine-based products. Choosing our product eliminates those potential risks.

Soapstone is very brittle and extremely prone to chipping. Our material ranks impressively high on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, just below diamond. While soapstone is non-porous, it’s worth noting that other chilling stone materials like granite and marble, are not.

We recommend either hand washing with dish soap or simply rinsing. They are also dishwasher safe. WhiskeyDisks™ are chemically inert, ensuring that they will stay free of any corrosion. Keep them stored in the freezer, in the tin or without, for quick and easy reuse.
